Welcome to My Website...
Hello, my name is Tommy Vogt and I am an aspiring character animator! I have been intending for some time to get a site dedicated to my animation and other digital artwork together and now is the time! I have a Bachelors of Science from Westwood online in Animation. I know, it’s a technical school and they mostly taught me software, but there was a little bit of technique in there as well. Also, it was not a competitive program but I always put my best forward. Because of my lack of experience in animation and the fact that I live in Olathe Kansas, I decided to go to AnimationMentor! I just completed my 6th and final term there; I will officially graduate in July. My work is not done yet though! I have a lot of different projects that I am planning on working on over the next year to improve my skills and further my understanding of animation.
My workflow has been heavily influenced around the ideas and principals of traditional animation. I start most things out in Flipbook and get my poses, spacing, and timing down as much as possible. I was introduced to this workflow from a combination of people: Dimos Vrysellas (AM Mentor), Jason Ryan, and Keith Lango. There are many other animators who treat CG animation very similar to traditional animation, but these are the ones who have been most instrumental in my learning. The one thing that I have had to learn the hard way though is that CG is not traditional animation and the facts of that are clear once you start working in anything but stepped curves. Anyway, please feel free to look around my site, there are all kinds of things on here. I have my animation stuff, drawings, 3-d models, and more. Feel free to contact me if you have freelance animation work that you would like to discuss, or if you work at a studio and are impressed with my work! I am interested in any and all oportunites!
